Fred Smith Robie was born on March 7, 1920, in Aspinwall, Pennsylvania, his father, George, was 36 and his mother, Blanche, was 30. He married Mary Louise Kent on May 9, 1943, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. They had three children during their marriage. He died on July 26, 1997, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, at the age of 77, and was buried in Glenshaw, Pennsylvania. The census records show his families Home in 1940: Fox Chapel, Allegheny, Pennsylvania. Fred served as an officer in the U.S. Army during World War II.

CAPT US ARMY WORLD WAR II

After today. Lt. Fred S. Robie and his bride, the former Miss Mary Louise Kent, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Thomas Kent, of Brave, Pa., will be at home in Payetteville, N. C. They were married in Aspin-wall Presbyterian Church May 9 by the Rev. L. V. Rhea. Their attendants were Miss Jane Murphy, of Cincinnati, classmate of the bride at Western College; Helen Adams Kent. Dr. Charles W. Lomas, as best man; Buell Whitehill, Jr., Roy Umble, Robert Sullivan and Hiram Milton. Lt. Robie, a Pitt alumnus, Is the son of Mr. and Mrs. George R. Robie, of Rye, N. Y., formerly of Aspinwall.

ROBIE FRED S. On Sat. July 26, 1997, Fred S., of Longwood at Oakmont, formerly of Glenshaw, PA and Steubenville, OH;

Mr. Robie was a graduate of the University of Pgh. where he received a Bachelors Degree and Ph. D. He received his Masters Degree from the University of Michigan. He was a Veteran of WW 1 1, serving as a captain with the 780th Field Artillery Battalion.

Mr. Robie was the 1st president of Jefferson Community College, Steubenville, OH. He was a former director of Alumni and Director of Administration at the University of Pgh. He was a FBI Special Agent in Washington, D.C. He was a debate coach for the University of Pgh. Friends are invited to attend a memorial service Fri. Aug. 22, 1997 at 10 am. in the Third Presbyterian Church on 5th and South Ne-gley, Shadyside. The Rev. Bebb Wheeler-Stone will officiate.

Husband of the late Mary Louise (Kent) Robie; beloved father of Mrs. Walter (Nancy R.) Bunt; brother of George F. and John R. Robie, Marcia Marlier and Margaret Clair; grandfather of Christopher and Jonathan Bunt; preceded in death by his parents George and Blanche Robie, two sons William R. Robie and Fred Kent Robie and a sister Mary Jenkins.
